Earlier this summer, I reviewed my new countertop compost bin. I thought I'd give you an update.
The compost bin still sits on my kitchen countertop getting used quite a bit. The size is nice for our needs. We empty it every 2 or 3 days. The only drawback I have is this: The lid covering that houses the charcoal filter doesn't fit snugly to the bin lid. This small, 1/16" gap is just wide enough to allow fruit flies to get in or out. I don't know whether this is a design flaw, materials flaw, or combo of both. I'm keeping the bin so I closed the gap with regular cello tape since the filter has to be changed every 60-90 days.
For us, it was a good $20 investment. The longer it lasts, the better the investment.
