Trying Rid Ourselves of the English Ivy Problem

We're still working to rid our yard of the English ivy.  That stuff is just nasty and worse than kudzu.  One way we are attempting to remove it is through vinegar.  Vinegar is great for getting rid of grass and other weeds.  We are trying it on the ivy.

This is my test patch.  These particular leaf-shapes of the ivy have been problematic.  They are slightly different from the ivy that is in the front of the house.  That particular ivy succumbed overnight to the vinegar.  We'll see how this patch does.  Then we cover the yard.  Mama needs more garden spaces.

The great thing about using vinegar as an herbicide is that it is safe to use with the kids around.  They can help pump the sprayer or load it without chemical side effects.  Girl Wonder #2 is the official pumper while Boy Wonder #2 is the official loader.

I'll keep you updated on how the vinegar works on this ivy patch.
