Kids and Their Fall Veggies

We're gearing up for the fall garden.  After perusing our favorite extension service site, we've narrowed down our choices for garden veggies.  I let the Boys' Wonder pick out 3 of each vegetables available for their garden.  They will be primarily responsible for planting and tending these veggies (with mommy's help, of course).  It is my hope that this will give them a desire to eat what they grow.

I labeled index cards with the 11 vegetables we hope to grow.

Picking veggies.  It was hard work so we had to have a peanut butter snack while we deliberated.  Deals were hashed out, future growth taken under advisement, and promises to share the produce were made.

Boy Wonder #1 chose broccoli, cauliflower (growing for mommy), and Irish potatoes.

Boy Wonder #2 chose bush squash, carrots (to help him see in the dark when he goes camping), onion (so mommy will make more pizza), and lettuce for his salads he promises to eat if he can just grow lettuce.

The Girls' Wonder were napping so they will help mommy with the remaining turnips, spinach, collards, and cabbage.  We hope to start seedlings by the end of the month for the early planting crops that we can seed start.
