Planting With Isaac

When Isaac churned through the Gulf of Mexico earlier this week, he very kindly just gave us feeder bands filled with rain.  Since we are still in a significant drought situation, the rain was desperately needed.  While it rained and the Wonder Kids watched DVD's of the original "Muppet Show", I quickly planted a few seedlings.

The seedlings getting a good soak.  In some cases, I had to dump excess water out of the seed cups.

I was able to plant 4 seedlings very quickly.  When it's been raining for 6 hours, the soil is quite easy to move around for planting.  Butternut squash, 2 broccoli, an unknown (possibly pumpkin), and a gourd fun mix have new container homes.

The unknown seedling.  Girl Wonder #4 decided it needed replanting into a new cup but since she can't write yet, she forgot to make a note of the seedling type.  Or tell anybody what it was.  She was just thrilled to make the transition without loosing any soil.

We'll be putting the raised beds together over Labor Day weekend.  Woohoo!

You've inspired me to start thinking about the different veggies I want to grow in my Ohio greenhouse.

THank you for always promoting and inspiring the garden world on Twitter! I'm honored to be a friend of yours on #gardenchat !

  2. Thanks, Bren! This is our 2nd year with a fall garden but we're trying new veggies this year. I'm hoping our new garden will be more conducive to fall gardening than our former one, which wasn't. Thanks for including me in the #gardenchat fun! I've learned so much from that great group.
